Sikhs in Modern
Wars
Duration:
06 minutes, 50 seconds
Release Date:
2004
Directed &
Edited by: Vicky Singh of SikhSangat.com
Summary:
It is a little known fact that the Sikhs have served as soldiers in
both
World Wars with the American and British regiments, and are an
instrumental force of the Indian army. This slideshow created
by
Vicky Singh, pictorially highlights the contributions
of Sikhs in the armed services.
An excellent overview of their contributions can be seen here.
This short debuted at a Punjabi cultural show at San Jose State
University with an attendance of 10,000 strong. If anything, this
video offers a kind reminder to the Sikh community of a chapter in
their history which seems to have been forgotten.
Furthermore this video pays homage to the Gatka 1: The Experimentation
short by using its audio introduction. That 2003 smash hit has
inspired many more Sikh based videos to be created, such as this one.
